I grew up moving around, my dad was a career infantry Marine and my mom was a school teacher. I was lucky enough to be able to serve as a US Marine myself; my dad commissioned me right before he retired. I had both of my daughters while on active-duty and made the tough call to leave the Marine Corps. I felt like I couldn’t be the mom I wanted to be and the Marine I wanted to be at the same time.
In 2012, I was house hunting all over Northern Virginia and fell in love with the City of Fairfax - the parks and green spaces, the local businesses, the diversity and walkability. We’ve been residents ever since. I used my GI Bill and earned a PhD from George Mason University. We love the city and all of its potential.
I strongly believe in community service and if I’m elected to City Council that’s how I view it - as serving my community.
You can find me gardening (send me your tips - I love to grow tomatoes, lettuce, jalapeños, cucumbers and flowers), walking my dogs, spending time with my kids (i.e. driving them to practices these days :), or walking into downtown City of Fairfax.
