I grew up moving around, my dad was a career infantry Marine and my mom was a school teacher. I have lived in North Carolina, Ohio, Germany, New York City and Washington DC. My husband and I have lived in Virginia for 18 years and the City of Fairfax for 11 years. I was lucky to be able to serve as a US Marine myself; my dad commissioned me right before he retired. I had both of my daughters while on active-duty.
In 2012, I was house hunting all over Northern Virginia and fell in love with the City of Fairfax - the parks and green spaces, the local businesses, great schools, the diversity and walkability. We’ve been residents ever since. I used my GI Bill and earned a PhD from George Mason University. We love the city and all of its potential.
I strongly believe in community service and I believe there is still work for me to do on City Council, which is why I am running for re-election.
